Female Hair Loss Treated with Oral Finasteride

This postmenopausal female was experiencing male pattern hair loss recession of the front hairline and sides. Studies have found that although finasteride is not safe for women during childbearing years because of potential birth defects of the fetus, studies have found that larger dose finasteride tablets can be effective for maintaining and in many cases regrowing thinning hair.

The after photos are from 5 months after the patient began finasteride 2.5mg/daily. No surgery or other medical therapies were utilized.
