Michael L. Hughes MD, FACS

Michael Hughes, MD, is a board-certified surgeon and a native of Austin, TX. He is a proud graduate of The University of Texas at Austin, where he majored in Biology and Chemistry. He received his Doctor of Medicine degree at the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston, in Galveston, Texas.

After medical school, he received the United States Air Force Health Professions Scholarship and was commissioned as a Major, United States Air Force Medical Corps.

He served as Chief of Surgery for Mobile Field Surgical Team/ Expeditionary Medical Support Hospital/Air Evacuation Hub during Operation Enduring/Iraqi Freedom.

After completing his medical service, Dr. Hughes became Chief of General Surgery and Founder and Chief of Thoracic Surgery at Oconee Memorial Hospital, Seneca, SC.

After over 15 years in General, Vascular, and Thoracic surgery, Dr. Hughes was introduced to FUE hair transplant surgery and was amazed at the advancements in hair transplantation and especially the exceptionally natural results.

In 2018, he began surgical training with a surgeon specializing in FUE hair transplant surgery in Charlotte, NC. In May 2020, he relocated to Beverly Hills, where he worked with a world-renowned hair surgeon and performed FUE hair transplants on celebrities, business leaders, and political figures.

In 2024, Dr. Hughes was named Top FUE Doctor in California by Aesthetic Everything, building a national reputation as one of the Top FUE hair surgeons in the country.

By 2025, Dr. Hughes and his wife, Lindsey, missed their Southern roots, and they relocated to Austin, Texas partnered with his longtime friend and colleague, Dr. Dan McGrath, Austin, TX's best-known and most experienced hair surgeon.

Dr. Hughes loves being back in Austin and working with Dr. McGrath and his world-class surgical team.
