FUT and then FUE Hair Transplant – 4000 Hair Grafts over 2 Sessions
Two Procedures over Three Years: FUT and FUE Hair Transplant.
The patient was a Norwood 5 hair-loss with thinning across the top of the scalp and a receded hairline.
When he first consulted with Dr. McGrath, he was primarily interested in restoring his hairline and mid-front scalp.
He did not want to shave his head and decided to have a FUT donor strip harvest procedure. The grafts were then dissected from the donor strip under a microscope, and the total count was 2,420 hair grafts, each containing 1-4 hairs.
The results were excellent, and the patient was very happy.

He was on hair maintenance medication, which stabilized his hair loss, but he was still thin in the crown and desired a little more hair density in the previously transplanted front.
He was styling his hair short on the sides and back, and it was decided that Dr. McGrath would perform a FUE donor-harvest technique this time and would even transplant grafts into the prior linear donor scar. During his second procedure, he had his head shaved, and Dr. McGrath transplanted 1,600 grafts. One year later, he had great results and was very happy with the outcome.
