Frontal Hair Transplant and Crown Medical Therapy
This 49-year-old male patient had lost most of the hair on the front half of his scalp, with only a short vellus hair bridge along the hairline, and his crown was experiencing significant thinning.
As with most patients, we began with medical therapy. In this patient's case, we used both oral and injectable treatments to strengthen his donor hair and existing hair in the crown.
At the follow-up consultation, it was determined that he would need approximately 3,000 hair grafts to fill the front. The crown had responded well and was thicker since starting medical therapy. The patient preferred FUT donor strip harvest because he did not want to shave his head, and Dr. McGrath transplanted 3,100 hair grafts, creating a new hairline and filling the midscalp.
